CLIMBING VOLCANOES IN MANILA

When I got Manila, Philippines on my roster last month, I'll admit that I didn't think much of it. I wasn't sure what there was to do out there. I'd heard that a lot of crew go see the volcanoes (which is pretty cool) or the waterfalls. I was looking forward to doing either of these things, but I didn't expect it to be one of my favourite destinations so far!
I really enjoyed the flight over to the Philippines, even though it was a very busy one. I had such a nice crew, nearly all girls apart from two! It was nice to work with such lovely people from around the world and get to know what we were all doing before becoming cabin crew, and how we all got here :)
A few of the other girls said they wanted to go to the volcano also, so we arranged a car from the hotel to take us the next morning. It was a really lovely hotel, we got welcome drinks and snacks on arrival :) I'd never had that before, but I have heard it happens at certain destinations. Because we arrived in the evening, and we had a very early start the next day for the volcano, we all decided to head up to our rooms and rest up.
The next morning we all met for breakfast, which was amazing! I completely forgot to take pictures of this gigantic breakfast buffet which had quite possibly everything you could imagine! I had an omlette... then freshly made pancakes with maple syrup mmm. I'll remember to take pictures next time.
We then headed out for our volcano adventure! The car ride was about an hour and a half maybe, not too bad. The weather was look a little gloomy on the way with some showers. But as we climed higher up the winding roads, the clouds became clearer :)
The driver dropped us off by a big lake (picture above), that was lined with lots of cute blue boats. We had to cross the lake in one and it was really nice and relaxing with the wind blowing through our hair!

I was mesmerised by the clouds. This doesn't even have any editing and I can't believe how amazing they look. Like smoke rising from a volcano almost!

When we reached the island we had the option to hire a horse to take us up the volcano, or hike up oursleves. We chose to hike and sweat it out in the heat... and burn a lot of calories in the process! It was really steep I'm not going to lie. But it felt good to use it as a workout and also enjoy the beautiful view as we climbed.

Quick picture from our half way check point!

After almost an hour of walking, we made it to the top! Literally singing "started from the bottom, now we here!" hahaa!
The view was incredible and so worth the long journey! I had never seen anything like it in my life and all of us couldn't resist some posey pictures to document this lovely day!

I had a little accident here haha! I'm the clumsiest person alive and didn't notice there was a gap in the planks... my whole leg went through the gap when I was stood there! I've got such a big bruise on my knee :( But I was actually so close to falling over the edge! I'll make sure to look properly next time haha! Ooops.

After lots and lots of pictures and some golf ball hitting, we decided to head back down. It was almost mid day and the sun was at it's hottest at this point. But it was good that we were going down hill this time. I made a little horsey friend on the way :)

When we got back to the water, the wind had picked up a lot and I could tell the waves were a lot rougher than before. We got absolutely soaked! It was a little scary as well, I actually thought I was going to end up in the water! Poor Marie got the worst of it because she was sat at the front of the boat haha! At least she didn't need a shower when we got back to the hotel! haha

I absolutely loved this trip, and I'll never forget it :) I definitely want to come back and do the waterfalls as well!
In the meantime, I've just got back from a 5 day trip in Singapore and Brisbane (or Brisneyland/ Bris Vegas as my friend calls it!). I'll be doing another blogpost about it soon! :) Stay tuned!
