A day trip to Old Dubai

Lauren and I had a day off together so we decided to take advantage and do something really touristy :) We went to the Old Souk in Bur Dubai - the older side of town. They have lots of traditional little markets and you can buy an array of different and quirky little things.

In the Gold Souk, as expected, there was just gold everywhere! It looked so pretty, sparkling in the windows of the many shops. Although, I don't know who wears this much gold. I've been to Indian weddings, and they're pretty extravagant, but this was just insane amounts! I don't think I'd even be able to hold some of these necklaces, let alone wear them around my neck!

However, we did try on these cute hand pieces which were very pretty... and way out of our budgets haha. Christmas presents maybe?

We then got the boat over to the other side to see the Spice Souks. The boat was so cute and only cost 1 dirham!

Lots and lots of Saffron... this special spice is more expensive than gold, gram for gram! My mum uses it in traditional Indian desserts and it has a really nice aroma.

We ended the day by having lunch by the river and cooling down with a refreshing coconut drink :) I bought a cute little lantern for my bedroom, so I'm going to go to Bath and Body Works and get more candles to put inside! :) I'll definitely be going to the Old Souk again for more cute trinkets :) Probably in the evening so it'll be cooler and the lights along the river will be pretty :) Stay tuned...
